The drivers for an eHome ir-receiver are also integrated in Windows 7 64bit (via Windows Update). No additional drivers are needed. From time to time the 64bit Version has a small problem at the first driver installation.
I have a USB Infrared Receiver that I got from Dell that came with my old computer (XPS 210, I had to have my computer replaced though..the motherboard was fried on it). When I plug it as usual Windows searches for a driver and installs it. The driver for this is 'eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR)' as it's listed in the Device Manager under the USB devices. After it is installed there is a green light on the receiver and everything works fine, the remote (came with the receiver) works fine as well.
However, everytime I restart my computer, Windows finds the device again only as an Unknown Device. The receiver does not have a light on it thus it doesn't work. In order for it to work again I have to unplug and plug it back in. I've tried uninstalling the device from the Device Manager and installing the driver again but this doesn't fix the problem. I also tried different USB slots..doesn't help. I'm not using any USB Hubs, just the slots on the tower. All my other USB devices work fine. I've already searched the internet only to find that apparently no one is having this problem. The receiver worked fine with my old computer, nothing went wrong. My old comptuer ran Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit (x86) but this one runs the same only 64 Bit, could be the problem. OS: Windows Vista Ultimate (x64 Bit) Any help is appreciated.

I need to disable the IR receiver device on my Fujitsu Amilo xi3650 laptop. Its running Windows 7 Pro. Its picking up IR signals intended for a separate HTPC running Windows 7 HP.
In device manager I've tried to disable the Microsoft eHome IR Transceiver device, however I guess its been marked as essential hardware as the Disable button is greyed out and unavailable.
https://paymentsenergy.weebly.com/blog/phonerescue-20-license-key. Uninstalling the IR transceiver device driver only works till I reboot then it automatically re-installs.
I had a look in the bios but didn't see an obvious way to disable the hardware from there.

Is there a way (short of sticking some tape over the sensor) of turning the receiver off permanently? https://paymentsenergy.weebly.com/blog/bcm20702a0-driver-windows-10.
I don't want to stop all hardware automatically installing on my machine just to get round this (I've seen this as an option when googling).

I've taken the subtle step of simply covering the IR receiver with a (neatly trimmed) piece of electric tape. Pci simple communications controller driver windows 7 hp.
There really ought to be a better way of going about it than this!
